Aspire Channel Swim 2016

I’m swimming the Channel, well sort of! I’m taking part in this year’s Aspire Channel Swim 2016. This means I am swimming the distance of the Channel over 12 weeks , that’s 22miles or 1770 lengths.

Every eight hours, someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time. Without warning, someone’s life changes completely. Aspire exists to provide essential support, equipment and advice to people with spinal cord injuries in the UK and Ireland. Aspire 2016

I was really inspired to take part in this challenge as part of the money raised through the challenge goes towards supporting individuals with the use of assistive technology, to encourage independence. I am dyslexic and I use assistive technology software to support me at work with my writing and comprehension. Assistive technology is developing every day and can make a great a difference to a person’s life.

I started the challenge on September 12th 2016 and currently I have swum 1060 lengths to date. I have until the 5th December 2016 to complete this challenge, but the more I raise, the more of a difference I can make.
